Final Post

So this is it.  Like so many before me, I'm abandoning Xanga.  I was feeling a little nostalgic, thinking back on all the people who, in big and small ways, left an indelible imprint upon my life.  This last post is for them:

To Yolanda - who introduced me to Bath & Bodyworks Coconut Lime Verbena handsoap.  (I still lie whenever I go in the store and say it's for my sister.)

To Helena - who introduced me to garlic shoots during college.  Now a favorite.

To Steve - who introduced me to the Glock 19 which became my first firearm.

To Tony - who introduced me to basketball during junior high.

To Prof. Rassias - who during the roughest period of my life, cared the most of all my professors.

To Josh - who kindled my current love of film

And to everyone else, especially the person who, more than anyone else, shaped who I am today as an adult and prayed most for me, thanks.

Stay classy Xanga nation.

Total Frustration

This weekend, totally ridiculous.  Went to Tempe Marketplace, kind of an outdoor shopping center like Easton or Newport Fashion Island, but less upscale.  Anywho, I went shopping to get gifts for my secretary and bosses.  Finding parking wasn't terrible.  Getting out, though, was a different story.  Trying to leave the parking lot, I was stuck - FOR 45 MINUTES.  It was crazy.  Just nuts.

Every Christmas, I have this overwhelming urge to watch Love Actually.  The Christmas of it all makes me a little sad.  And other stuff.  Oh well . . .

So Worth It

Putting a wife-beating burglar away for 10 years after a one week trial.  Best.  Feeling.  Ever.

Rookie Error

This weekend has been pretty much of a downer.  I was scheduled for a trial tomorrow, but it's gone away.  Because of a charging mistake I made, a woman who should have spent 5 years in prison is getting supervised probation.  Will she offend again?  Absolutely.  But still.  She should be going into custody, not to the Adult Probation Office.

Rough

It's only Tuesday and work is already kind of starting to grind.  These past few days have also been marked by broken relationships in the lives of some of my good friends, and it's been hard.  Along with a bum ankle, a rough start to the week.

You look at a lot of modern relationships today and it's no wonder that people are so cynical about love.  One could only hope that just that - hope - can overcome the blatant and visceral realities of love lost, or even simply love not-quite-there-yet.

On a lighter note, Dark Knight was kind of awesome.  Picture to Burn is pretty catchy.  Einstein Bros. sesame seed bagels are delicious.  Gordon Ramsey is back on TV with Kitchen Nightmares.  All fun times.
